Again this year Danske Markets tops the list as best equity house in Denmark. Danske Markets is performing well in good as well as challenging times. That is the main findings of the Danish weekly economic paper Økonomisk Ugebrev in their annual stock broker review. Danske Markets’ strong performance is underpinned by a concept and business model that is deemed difficult to match by our competitors in terms of coverage and strong equity analyst teams.
The top rating comes after Økonomisk Ugebrev has asked 25 portfolio managers and 30 investor relations managers in Denmark to rate stock brokers.

Commenting on this year’s top rating, Global Head of Equity Research Thomas Steen Hansen says: “Continuity, quality and credibility are key in our line of business. Without continuity in the companies we cover and in the great teams we have to service our clients we would be nowhere near a no. 1 position.”
Fierce competition
However, despite this year’s top rating and Markets’ long track record of top ratings in recent years, our competitors are closing in on Danske Markets, according to Økonomisk Ugebrev. Worth noticing this year is the arrival of Morgan Stanley, coming in as no 2, followed by Svenska Handelsbanken in third place. Morgan Stanley is not rated by as many investors as Danske Markets and peers, which may have to do with the fact that the US investment bank covers only a reduced number of Danish companies. However, among major Danish professional investors Morgan Stanley is praised high for their quality and delivery in macro research.
Thomas Steen Hansen on the increasing competition: “In addition to keeping up our high standards and strong performance, we are about to strengthen our international distribution via establishing a stock broker office in New York. The opening of an office in New York and the increased emphasis on our London office will fill the gap of insufficient international distribution as compared to our closest competitors.”
